dELIVERING THE FUTURE

ABOUT

At Techvette Consulting, we bring over two decades of hands-on, onsite experience and a deep appreciation for the critical
role technicians play in business success.

Our mission is simple: to provide outstanding service while empowering the technicians who are the backbone of every
operation, all while recognizing the growing shortage of skilled workers in technical fields.

As technology continues to advance, it’s essential that technicians are equipped with the right skills and mindset. Without
the proper training in first-principles thinking, it’s easy for them to fall behind, resulting in rising inventory costs and longer
repair times.

We focus on working closely with company leaders, training teams, or subject matter experts to create customized, hands-
on training solutions that match the unique learning styles of your technicians. Our approach is practical and results-
driven, ensuring your team has the tools and confidence to excel in an ever-evolving tech landscape.

Together, we can enhance your team’s skills, improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and cultivate a culture of continuous
growth and improvement.

Our mission is to foster a culture that builds confidence in people. With a
rich history of empowering technicians, especially those with limited
resources, we are committed to helping individuals excel in their craft
and create better futures for themselves and their families.

We believe in the power of small businesses and are dedicated to
helping them thrive by providing the training, support, and expertise
needed to make a real impact in the industry. At Techvette, it's not just
about skills; it's about transforming lives and driving success for both
individuals and businesses alike.

Experience

I’m Gareth, founder of Techvette Consulting, with over 27 years of experience in the automotive and industrial
equipment sectors. My journey began with an Auto Electrical apprenticeship in South Africa in 2002, leading to
opportunities in countries like Nigeria, DRC, Ghana, and Australia. Collaborating with specialists from Europe and the
USA has enriched my understanding of global industry standards.

My career spans diverse industries, including mining, oil and gas, and biomass, where I’ve gained hands-on
experience with various equipment brands. I take pride in delivering exceptional customer service and prioritizing
equal learning opportunities for all service technicians. In previous roles, I've developed technical competency
frameworks and strategic plans, focusing on safety and operational excellence.

Holding advanced certifications in fluid power and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, I create training
programs that meet industry standards. My approach emphasizes adapting to technological advancements while
equipping technicians with foundational and advanced skills.

Currently, I work solo, but my vision for Techvette Consulting is to build a team of passionate professionals. Together,
we aim to reshape technician training, fostering a skilled and adaptable workforce that sets new standards in
equipment repair.

Let’s say you’re trying to teach a monkey how to recite Shakespeare
while on a pedestal. How should you allocate your time and money
between training the monkey and building the pedestal?

The right answer, of course, is to spend zero time thinking about the
pedestal. But I bet at least a couple of people will rush off and start
building a really great pedestal first. Why? Because at some point the
boss is going to pop by and ask for a status update — and you want to
be able to show off something other than a long list of reasons why
teaching a monkey to talk is really, really hard.

I get it. It’s human nature to want the boss to say, “Hey, nice pedestal,
great job!” and to think of your authentic Elizabethan-era carving
techniques when you’re up for promotion instead of the long list of
monkey-training techniques that have failed so far. It takes a lot of faith
in your boss (and the bosses above) to think that he or she will say a
hearty thank you for helping to figure out whether and for how long your
organization should invest resources in advanced monkey education.

As technology continues to advance rapidly, organizations are
introducing new vehicles and equipment at a fast pace.
Technicians are often expected to support these innovations in
the field with little or no training, a demand driven by the
constant evolution of technology. Hiring new staff who must
quickly master multiple disciplines can lead to feelings of being
overwhelmed, especially when working under tight deadlines. The
added psychological pressure can contribute to burnout, which
often results in resignation. At Techvette, we specialize in
creating personalized training modules that address gaps in
foundational knowledge. This approach enables your training
team to focus on the specifics of the equipment you sell. It is
important to remember that not all apprenticeships are equal,
and experiences with trade certifications can vary significantly.

Services

Onboarding a new technician is a significant financial
investment for most companies, which makes it essential to
prioritize technical scrutiny during the hiring process.
Engaging in industry-relevant discussions with candidates
is a valuable investment of time that can help determine
whether a technician is the right fit for your organization.
HR departments often rely on the expertise of product
specialists or managers, but the outdated mentality of
"we've always done it this way" can sometimes hinder the
ability to step back and assess hiring needs with a future-
oriented perspective. Techvette can assist by offering pre-
assessments tailored to your business needs, developed in
consultation with your leadership team, to ensure that the
right questions are asked to address any skill gaps.
